At my Hampton Roads plastic surgery practice in Virginia Beach, the combination of breast augmentation and lift is very popular. It provides an effective solution for women who want to correct sagging and increase volume – common after one or more pregnancies.
Some have raised questions about the safety of this combined approach when compared to staged (separate) augmentation and lift procedures. In a recent presentation at a national meeting, I outlined the safety and efficacy of the one-stage (combined) method. Other studies have also demonstrated a comparable success rate for combined breast procedures.
Some of the safety concerns stem from the added complexity of the combined approach, but with the design of my combination procedure, this complexity is managed with multiple safety measures. Predictability is greatly improved. Complications and revision surgery are reduced. The vast majority of patients need only one general anesthetic.
