3 Things to Look for in Your Plastic Surgeon

I am always happy to discuss my qualifications as a plastic surgeon with my Boston-area patients. That”s because one of the most crucial aspects of a successful procedure is choosing the right plastic surgeon, and I want my patients to feel confident with me.

Here are 3 criteria to help you zero in on Dr. Right:

  1. Training – Look into your prospective plastic surgeon’s education and find out about his or her training. A good indication of a plastic surgeon’s qualifications is certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
  2. Experience – Learn what kind of working knowledge the physician has of your procedure. Has he published studies or articles or presented on the subject? What demonstrated authority does she have? If you can’t find this information, ask the staff or physician.
  3. Compassion – You want to feel comfortable with your plastic surgeon. Is she attentive to your concerns? Does he take the time to make sure you feel educated and confident about the procedure?

There are a number of other considerations, but these should get you on the right track.
