Beauty for the Ages

What is the appropriate age to begin beauty treatments such as BOTOX® in Dallas? In my experience, it’s not a question of age as much as a question of how – and how much – your skin has aged. This involves several factors, including:

• Skin quality. Damage resulting from sun exposure over the years can reduce the skin’s softness and smoothness. If you want to maintain your skin quality, practice proper skin care daily.

• Skin elasticity. Our skin loses pliability as we age, and sun damage can exacerbate the issue. Although this problem is usually associated with men and women older than 40, it may be present earlier in life as well.

• Wrinkles and fine lines. Wrinkles can appear in young skin as well as mature skin. While age plays a role, sun damage and genetics are also factors. Fine lines can develop early because of dryness and sun exposure. Treatments such as laser skin resurfacing, microdermabrasion and chemical peels can reduce fine lines, while BOTOX and Dysport®, as well as injectable fillers, are often used to address heavier creases.

If you have questions about BOTOX or other methods for correcting these types of skin issues, request a consultation with a board-certified dermatologist.
