Liposuction Before Pregnancy?

Liposuction before pregnancy?

A lot of my female patients in Boulder considering a plastic surgery procedure such as liposuction want to know whether it’s OK to have surgery before having children. The short answer is yes, you can.

Procedures such as liposuction can be safely performed pre-baby on those patients who want to enjoy a slimmer body now. It is important to note that with pregnancy, or any type of weight gain for that matter, the body does change. Contrary to popular myth, just because you have had liposuction, that doesn’t mean those areas will stay slim no matter what. Fat deposits can return in the treated areas if you gain weight.

The bottom line for future mothers: Liposuction is a moderately priced procedure with minimal downtime, so enjoy the benefits before baby. But be aware that you might need to repeat the procedure (or even undergo other procedures such as a tummy tuck or mommy makeover) once your family is complete.
