How Soon Does BOTOX® Take Effect?

One of the most common questions I get about BOTOX® Cosmetic at my practice near Naperville, Illinois, is how long it takes for effects to show up. Generally, improvements begin appearing in about 3 to 4 days. If you’re interested in reducing forehead wrinkles for an upcoming event, such as a wedding or class reunion, it’s best to get injections a week or two ahead of time.

It takes 1 to 2 weeks after BOTOX injections for the improvements to peak. You can also expect the results to last up to 4 months. Many doctors recommend BOTOX treatments be repeated to prolong their effects, but it’s a good idea to wait at least 3 to 5 months between injections.

One thing to keep in mind if you’re considering getting BOTOX is the importance of selecting a board-certified plastic surgeon. A skilled injector will help you get the most out of your treatments.
