An increasing number of people considering a face lift in San Jose and Los Gatos have realized that they can get the look they want without surgery by using dermal fillers. While fillers made with hyaluronic acid (HA) such as JUVÉDERM® Injectable Gel and Restylane® can be very effective, their results are not very long-lasting, causing some patients to consider other options. Sculptra® Aesthetic is changing the game by providing gradual, longer-lasting results.
How Sculptra is Different
Sculptra is made differently and works differently than other injectables in several ways.
- Sculptra is made with poly-L-lactic acid, not hyaluronic acid.
- Rather than simply filling wrinkles, poly-L-lactic acid works deep within the skin to actually stimulate the creation of your own collagen and correct skin sagging. You make your own wrinkle treatment – what could be more natural?
- The results of Sculptra appear gradually, beginning in the first few weeks after treatment.
- The results look natural and can last up to two years.
How I Use Sculptra
I use Sculptra to restore youthful facial contours and restore skin firmness and elasticity that has been lost through the aging process. Sculptra is suitable for nasolabial folds (“smile lines” or “parentheses”) between the nose and mouth, lines around your mouth (“marionette lines”) and chin winkles. A full treatment of Sculptra requires several sessions spaced approximately 6 weeks apart. After each treatment session, there may be some swelling or redness around the injection site, but patients should be able to return to work right away.
For patients who have been treated with Sculptra and are waiting for results, I will often use other fillers to provide immediate wrinkle correction. For wrinkles that Sculptra cannot address, such as frown lines and crow’s feet, I will often use BOTOX® Cosmetic in San Jose .
