Facial rejuvenation surgeries are attractive to women and men who are experiencing more of the signs of aging. Unfortunately, some mature men and women experience unsatisfying results following their Pasadena face lift because their surgeon does not employ current techniques that take into consideration the characteristics of more mature facial tissue.
Active adults who come to my plastic surgery practice in the Inland Empire are primarily concerned about how their age may influence:
- Recovery
- Scarring and other tell-tale signs of surgical work
- How long the effects of their procedure will last
Each patient’s tissues are different, and present unique needs that need to be addressed on an individual basis, but I want to outline a few general tips to help you clarify your needs and options and work toward a safer and more effective procedure.
Effective Surgical Approaches
The same processes that cause facial tissues to look tired and old can also prevent your body from recovering quickly and healing successfully. Minimally-invasive procedures can address both of these issues because they help prevent the tissue damage that causes these problems in the first place.
Different surgeons often prefer different approaches. Mini-face lift and mini-brow lift both target the wrinkles and sagging associated with age, but a relatively new and minimally invasive option, Contour Threadlift™ , requires only tiny incisions rather than the longer incisions associated with conventional surgery, so most patients experience significantly less discomfort while retaining many of the longer-lasting results that face lift patients enjoy.
Aim for Long-Term Results
Time will continue to change your facial contour, but by choosing the right surgeon and the right procedure, even older adults can enjoy a younger look with minimal corrective treatments. A few hints for better results:
- Undergo only the treatments that are necessary. Every patient wants to look fully renewed, but many wrongly assume that several facial surgery procedures will be needed to achieve their desired appearance. However, an experienced plastic surgeon can often correct many signs of aging in one procedure; forehead lift, for example, can correct sagging upper eyelids, low brows, and a wrinkled forehead.
- Focus on facial health. For many mature patients, changes in skin laxity and texture account for a significant part of their tired appearance. Pasadena patients find their face lift or forehead lift much more effective when combined with procedures such as Thermage®, which may stimulate deep layers of skin to fortify themselves naturally.
- Take care of your new look: Microdermabrasion and chemical peels are typical procedures to maintain skin quality, and some patients find that they reinforce the positive effects achieved through facial surgery. However, some older patients may find these treatments to be too intensive, so injectable collagen and similar skin care options can often maintain the skin naturally and more gently than options that remove surface layers of skin.
