Los Angeles liposuction - what's your surgeon's approach?

By: Robert Yoho, MD

With all the hype about new procedures and technologies, I think some patients can overlook how important it is for their surgeon to have a clear surgical philosophy. Most Los Angeles area cosmetic surgery and liposuction centers have mission statements, and those can help a bit, but what I mean by “surgical philosophy” is more along the lines of a values statement that explains what the surgeon believes in and how they approach the hundreds of little choices that go into each cosmetic surgery procedure.

Every doctor’s cosmetic surgery philosophy will be a little different, but to give you a better idea of what you’re looking for, here’s mine.

The Yoho Method, Briefly:

I strive for the best possible results in each of my cosmetic surgery procedures, and for me that means working toward results that look very natural, through methods that prioritize my patients’ comfort and safety. What this means for me:

  • Natural Results: Good surgical choices can make even procedures like larger-volume breast augmentation look normal and natural. Because I work hard to prevent an “operated-on” look in procedures like face lift and breast augmentation, I use more conservative approaches that prevent unnecessary scarring or a “plastic” looking result. Sometimes, I also take advantage of nutritional planning and other “big picture” changes to encourage better results with the help of natural body processes.
  • Minimal Tissue Disruption: Today, surgeons have plenty of minimally-invasive options that can create beautiful results, without the extra risks and discomfort of scalpels and sutures. Where I can, I avoid extra tissue manipulation, and I am constantly on the lookout for new options like breast reduction using liposuction near Los Angeles, which can drastically reduce recovery times.
  • Patient-Specific Approaches: It can be a mistake for a surgeon to train for too many different types of procedures, because then they tend to learn just one technique for each and cannot customize their procedures very effectively. Instead, I devote myself to a specific range of cosmetic surgery procedures, but make sure to develop my skills constantly in multiple surgical techniques for each.
