Beverly Hills Laser Bra Breast Reduction and Lift: What’s the Difference?

Cosmetic surgery has a lot to offer for women whose breasts have lost shape or position over time, and in Beverly Hills, breast reduction and breast lift are definitely two of the top options for women who want to regain their shape after losing weight or having a child. But are the “standard” approaches to these procedures enough to provide longer-lasting results? More importantly, what can you do to make sure your procedure gives you results that will last – and look right – for years?

Standard Breast Lift and Breast Reduction – How They Work

Breast size and position are closely related: they both depend on the amount of tissue in the breast mound and on how well the skin and surface tissues of the breast are holding that tissue in place. Larger breasts tend to stretch the skin, causing the breasts to sag, and even small breasts will look smaller and flatter after weight fluctuations or other changes causing the skin to loosen. In Los Angeles, both breast lift and breast reduction work very similarly to reshape the breast mound, and typically involve three steps:

  • Removing an area of excess skin, fat, and/or glandular tissue from the lower breast
  • Repositioning the nipple (if necessary)
  • Suturing the edges of the incised tissue in a higher, rounder position

The main goal of both Los Angeles breast lift and breast reduction is to reduce and tighten the amount of breast tissue that holds the breast in place, and in most cases the surgeon will accomplish this by removing a section of breast skin and tissue from below the nipple. However, because both the natural breast tissue and the incision scar have very thin skin, for some women the tissues are not strong enough for the breast to maintain its attractive, rounded position.

The Solution: How Laser Breast Enhancement Works

No surgeon or technique can prevent the effects of gravity permanently, but some new techniques do allow us to create results that are much more permanent.

The Laser Bra procedure helps Los Angeles and Beverly Hills breast reduction and breast lift patients by adapting the middle step of the procedure – the removal of excess skin and surface tissue. Instead of completely removing the segment of excess skin, I create incisions at each side to create a flap, then use a laser to clean and prepare the skin. This flap is then tucked into the breast and sutured in place to heal with the other tissues, creating an internal support structure for the breast mound. This “internal bra”:

  • Reinforces the natural support structures of the breast to create results that last longer
  • Uses the patient’s own natural breast tissue, so it does not look or feel different from the rest of the breast tissue

Compared to traditional approaches, the Laser Bra also does not increase the risk of complications or limit the attractiveness of the final result. To the contrary, the breast often maintains its shape better in the long term because it is held naturally and securely by the patient’s own tissues.

A Word of Caution

While many doctors may incorporate laser treatments or laser liposuction into breast enhancement procedures (particularly breast reduction), very few have the training or experience to offer the legitimate Laser Bra procedure. Before you meet with your surgeon, you should research this approach further and think of questions to ask beforehand so that you will not undergo a “similar” procedure that may actually offer very different results.
