Several patients who use BOTOX® in Seattle have asked me if their wrinkles will become worse if they stop getting treatments.
The answer is no. Your wrinkles will not get “worse.” Your skin will simply go back to how it looked before you started using BOTOX.
BOTOX is a temporary treatment that is great for relaxing the muscles that cause prominent forehead creases, brow furrows and crow’s feet. Most of my patients find that the effect of BOTOX lasts for 3 or 4 months, and then the targeted muscle begins to tighten up again, causing the old creases to return. At this point, another BOTOX treatment will be necessary to keep the creases and lines from returning to their pre-BOTOX state.
Making BOTOX a part of your regular beauty routine can help keep those old wrinkles and creases from returning. It may also be useful as a preventive procedure to help lessen or delay the formation of new lines.
A BOTOX treatment is quick and relatively pain free. Many of my patients say the injections cause a pinching sensation that sometimes feels like a bug bite. There may be some redness at the site of the injection, but that is usually gone within a few hours. You can expect to see results within a few days, with gradual improvements during the next couple of weeks.
