Dr. Byrd has been practicing cosmetic surgery in Dallas since 1978 and is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. He earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch before completing residency in general surgery and plastic surgery at the University of Utah Medical Center and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, respectively. In addition to his education, Dr. Byrd has a standout reputation and an impressive list of accomplishments, including:
- Serving as the Director of Plastic Surgery at Children’s Medical Center
- Being appointed vice-chairman to the Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, and also continues to work at the university as a full professor

- Serving as the former president of the Dallas County Society of Plastic Surgery
