Whether or not a person is a good candidate for liposuction in Wisconsin is less an issue of age than it is of health. Technically, there is no age limit for liposuction. A good candidate for liposuction is someone who leads an active and healthy lifestyle and has fairly good skin quality. The best steps a person can take in preparing for any form of plastic surgery will be given by a doctor, not dictated by a person’s age.

It’s important to be honest with your doctor about any medical conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure. These health concerns raise a person’s risk of experiencing complications during or after surgery.

Although a person may be active and healthy, it’s common for people to turn to liposuction to remove stubborn fat deposits. This is a great complement to an active lifestyle. A person’s general health will be discussed during the initial consultation, including the use of medications, alcohol, tobacco, and drugs.

Most people understand the importance of a clear complexion, but are unable to identify trouble spots that prevent them from having clear and youthful-looking skin. VISIA™ Complexion Analysis system has several benefits, including the ability to accurately evaluate your personal skin type and determine the most appropriate treatment.

The system uses ultraviolet photography to assess the degree to which wrinkles, pores, age spots, color variation, and sun damage affect your skin. This analysis provides doctors with an individualized program for each person’s skin care health.

This is a great step for skin rejuvenation, because it provides men and women with the most efficient means of achieving a healthy complexion. Once a doctor reviews the analysis and skin care options, you can easily get youthful-looking skin with procedures such as sun damage treatment and BOTOX® Cosmetic in Milwaukee.

A VISIA Complexion Analysis, offered complimentary at most aesthetic medispas, takes the guesswork out of skin rejuvenation, offering men and women continued plans to maintain their complexions. It’s easy to have healthier and younger looking skin with a skin care plan and qualified doctor to carry out that plan.

Buying new bras after a breast implant procedure can be fun and exciting, yet it can also be challenging. Here are our tips for finding the perfect fit after your breast augmentation in Milwaukee:

Begin by measuring your band size with a tailor’s measuring tape. The tape should fit securely around your ribcage, directly under your breasts.

Once you have measured your ribcage in inches, add four if your number is even, and five if your number is odd. Your band size should not increase after your augmentation.

To determine your cup size, measure across the widest part of your breasts. Make sure the tape is horizontal, and then subtract your band size.

The breast should be secure inside the bra, and not fall out when you bend over.

Your bra band should not ride up in the back, but instead should remain at the same level as the front.

Both the band and cups should fit around your body securely to ensure the most support for your back and shoulders.

Bras vary from one manufacturer to another. Take time to find the perfect fit for each brand.

A number of men and women throughout Wisconsin want a more fit and toned appearance. A medical weight loss program where phentermine is used, in combination with diet and exercise, can help you lose weight. More people are turning to cosmetic surgery practices in Milwaukee to learn about their options for weight loss alternatives.

Phentermine is an FDA-approved appetite suppressant that can assist a person in weight loss as he or she learns new ways to exercise and diet. It works by stimulating the hypothalamus, the region of the brain that regulates sleep cycles, appetite, and body temperature. Phentermine comes in tablets, capsules, and resin capsules, and has been successful in decreasing appetite for men and women who wish to lose weight.

The key to successfully losing weight with the assistance of phentermine is combining education about proper diet and exercise habits with behavior therapy. Losing weight is a difficult task to do, so it’s important for people to rely on a number of resources to achieve and sustain their goal weight.

By: William Doubek, MD

Sleep is vitally important for your health and wellbeing. It’s a time for your body and your mind to rest and recover. This is especially true for my Green Bay, Oshkosh and Milwaukee area patients after cosmetic surgery. Getting enough sleep is something I really try to emphasize to them. Often, my patients will be recovering from liposuction, a tummy tuck, or another procedure to slim and tone their figure. For these patients, sleep is important for yet another reason: weight control.

Studies have shown that there is a connection between getting enough sleep and staying thin. As New Beauty magazine reports, we may be dealing with a confusing “chicken or the egg?” scenario here. Whether lack of sleep can cause increased weight, or excess weight can negatively impact your sleep (or both) has not been established conclusively. However, there is a strong indication that getting sufficient, good-quality sleep can help keep you looking slim.

The bottom line: Rest helps your body recover and will help to keep you looking and feeling vibrant in the months and years after surgery.

By: David Janssen, MD

The purpose of breast lift surgery is to counteract the effects of age and gravity to give you perky, firm breasts. Failing to wear a bra can contribute to the speed and severity of breast drooping – the reason for considering a breast lift in the first place. But, once they’ve had a breast lift to counteract these effects, many women seem to think that they can now go braless without concern. Quite simply, they’re wrong.

A breast lift will not make your breasts immune from the effects of gravity or put a stop to the natural aging process. Eventually, your breasts will begin to sag again. Unfortunately, going without a bra can expedite this process as easily as it did prior to your breast surgery. What I always tell my breast lift patients is that they are going to look great after surgery and that taking care of themselves and wearing a bra can make sure their great new look is long-lasting.

By: William Doubek, MD

I know that concerns about the most intimate areas of our bodies can be difficult to discuss, especially when there’s something we’re not happy about. It’s unfortunate, because talking openly about our questions and concerns is the necessary first step toward a solution. When it comes to genital rejuvenation, media coverage in recent years has helped women become more comfortable talking about their concerns.

So, let’s talk about it – vaginal rejuvenation, that is. Also referred to as labiaplasty, this procedure can reduce, enlarge, or reshape the labia. Women often find themselves considering labiaplasty due to the changes that pregnancy or aging have caused or, in some cases, they have had concerns from early in life due to genetics. Overly large or stretched labia can cause both physical and emotional discomfort in almost any situation – from exercise to intimacy. Many women even begin to avoid some of their favorite things, like riding a bicycle, horseback riding and wearing tight clothes. A labiaplasty can change all that.

The labiaplasty procedure, when performed by a skilled plastic surgeon, does not limit sensation. A few days after the procedure, most women can return to light work and, in several weeks, more strenuous activity can be resumed.

When my labiaplasty patients are finished recovering from their cosmetic surgery in the Milwaukee area, they are thrilled with how much more confident and self-assured they are. They’re glad they had the courage to discuss this sensitive subject.

By: David Janssen, MD

Here’s something that might surprise you: even though Fox Valley Plastic Surgery has a full-service medical spa, we don’t offer “laser” hair removal for our Milwaukee, Oshkosh and Green Bay patients. Why not? Well, instead, we offer something that can achieve even better results: IPL (Intense Pulsed Light). IPL and laser hair removal are actually quite similar, but IPL offers some definite benefits.

How IPL Works

Hair removal with IPL uses high energy pulses of light that pass through the skin to the hair follicle. The light energy is absorbed by the follicle, which is heated and destroyed. The effects of IPL are focused on the hair follicle, leaving your skin unharmed.

Why It’s Better

Because IPL treats a larger area than laser hair removal, the target area can be covered more quickly and treatments do not take as long.

Is It Right for Me?

The best way to determine which method of hair removal is best for you is to meet with a qualified treatment professional. I highly recommend choosing a spa practice that is supervised by a medical doctor and that has a reputation for high standards in your community.

Each year, tens of thousands of Americans achieve significant weight loss through bariatric surgery or by following their own diet and exercise plan. As a result, they enjoy the increased energy and more vibrant body that come with a healthier lifestyle. But many are also left with an unwelcome reminder of their former selves in the form of excess skin and unwanted pockets of fat tissue. The solution? Cosmetic surgery in Milwaukee to create a more shapely body contour.

Your Plastic Surgery Options

The great news is that cosmetic surgery to remove stubborn fat or excess skin does not have to be a complicated procedure requiring weeks of downtime. Today’s advanced equipment and techniques allow me to provide Wisconsin women and men with significant enhancement and a comfortable recovery. Many people find that plastic surgery is the final step that helps them achieve their goal of a slimmer self.

Smooth Your Body Contour

The buttocks, thighs, upper arms, and lower abdomen pose problems for many men and women because those areas tend to exhibit skin sagging and hold onto fat even when the rest of the body has slimmed down following weight loss.

Some of the options for treating these areas include:

VASER® LipoSelection, which utilizes ultrasound technology to liquefy fat and minimize damage to surrounding tissues

Abdominoplasty (“tummy tuck”) or mini-abdominoplasty, which tightens abdominal muscles and trims skin and fat for a flatter belly

Body Lift, which can combine several contouring procedures including buttock lift and arm lift to achieve total body sculpting

Put Your Best Face Forward

The thinner tissues of the neck and jaw line often wrinkle and sag prematurely, especially after weight loss. They also tend to hold onto localized pockets of fat that create the jowls and deep creases that can add years to the appearance of your face.

A facelift is one of the most popular procedures I perform to improve facial contour and give a patient a softer, less wrinkled look through cosmetic surgery. Milwaukee men and women often choose to combine a facelift with a neck lift, in which liposuction techniques are used to gently eliminate fat deposits and sagging skin is removed to provide a cleaner, smoother neck contour.

Important Factors to Consider

Before you meet with your Milwaukee cosmetic surgeon to discuss options, carefully consider your expectations and your aesthetic goals. If you are healthy, have maintained a steady weight for several months prior to the procedure, and have a long-term plan for improving your body and enhancing your wellness, you should be a good candidate for a plastic surgery procedure. Even for relatively simple procedures, your surgeon should take an active interest in your long-term health and wellbeing. Cosmetic surgery in Milwaukee is an important step to help you realize the body you always wanted, so it requires a positive attitude and habits that demonstrate the quality of your resolve.

Your personal goals and body type determine what kind of breast augmentation or breast lift surgery in Milwaukee is best for you. Sometimes, though, I find women come in for an initial consultation thinking that they need an augmentation, when in reality they could most benefit from a breast lift, or vice versa. I work with these patients carefully to ensure they understand their options as fully as possible, and hold realistic expectations for how these options can provide them with a better breast shape.

Your goal is to achieve shapely, beautiful breasts, and whether you will be best served by a breast lift, breast enlargement, or both procedures together is a discussion I will have with you during your consultation. Your procedure options depend on several factors including your current:

Breast size

Breast position

Breast firmness and tissue quality

Breast proportion – both to the other breast, and with reference to your body as a whole

Your own expectations and desires for your breasts are also extremely important. Augmentation will not improve the position of deeply sagging breasts, and a breast lift alone does not add volume. When you understand the advantages of each procedure, you can make an informed choice about what is best for you.

Breast Lift Surgery Factors in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

A breast lift is most helpful for women whose breast position has dropped significantly as a result of pregnancy or breastfeeding, weight loss, age, or their genetic traits. In this procedure, I remove excess skin and tissue that contribute to the sagging appearance to tighten and contour each breast. Most breast lifts also involve repositioning the nipple and areola while recontouring the breast.

Women considering breast lift surgery in Milwaukee should understand that because this procedure removes some of the excess tissue in order to tighten and elevate each breast, some loss of breast volume may occur. The amount of loss generally depends on the degree to which your breasts will be lifted. For those women who have experienced significant sagging due to having large breasts, a smaller cup size may be a welcome relief. But if you would like to maintain or enhance your breast size after a breast lift, you may need to consider having a simultaneous augmentation as well.

When to Combine Breast Lift and Breast Enlargement

While a breast lift can provide a better breast contour, breast lift surgery alone will not enhance breast size and won’t be able to resolve dramatic breast asymmetry. In other cases, a woman who wants larger breasts also may need a breast lift, particularly because a larger breast volume will only worsen the existing breast sagging. While you certainly should do plenty of research on your own and talk with other women who have had these procedures, the best way to find out which procedure is right for you is to talk with a local plastic surgeon who offers both breast augmentation and breast lift surgery in Milwaukee. He or she can provide a professional recommendation to help you achieve beautifully-contoured breast.
