In general, cosmetic surgery patients enjoy much better results when they have taken good care of their bodies through a healthy diet and regular exercise. Fitness is an important part of life for many of my Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton breast enlargement patients, so I often answer questions about how these patients can effectively take care of their new breast shape while at the same time maintaining a toned form for the rest of their body.

A few points fitness-focused breast augmentation patients should keep in mind:

  • Be aware that women with muscular frames tend to require a specific surgical approach. For example, submuscular placement generally yields much better results than subglandular placement for women who have less breast tissue for the surgeon to work with.
  • Plan to get back into your fitness habits gradually. Pushing yourself too hard immediately after your surgery can put too much stress on tissues and muscles that are still trying to heal. Plan to wait 4 to 6 weeks before engaging in physically demanding activities.
  • On the other hand, good blood circulation is an important reason fit patients tend to heal faster and enjoy smoother results. During your Boca Raton breast augmentation recovery, find other ways to maintain healthy circulation (take more walks, for example) without creating undue stress for the arm or pectoral muscles.
  • Wear compression garments if your surgeon recommends them. Most surgeons recommend that patients also wear two sports bras during exercise to help ensure that their breast implants maintain their attractive position.

If you are unsure about any aspect of your surgeon’s instructions for your Boca Raton breast enlargement recovery, be sure to get clarification from the surgeon before your surgery. Also, make sure you understand how to care for your new breasts in the long term. Good recovery practices are only one facet of a successful procedure, but they can be important to ensure that you can enjoy your new look for years.
